About the event

After several years of Covid postponements, the women’s retreat is finally happening!  If you’re starving for some spiritual refreshment and renewal after the stresses of the past few years, this is definitely for you!  Join us at beautiful St. Andrew’s House on Hood Canal for three days of reflection, prayer services, spiritual enrichment and fellowship with other St. Thomas women.

Our theme is “Praying with Evelyn Underhill” and Pastor Jane will lead us in an exploration of Evelyn Underhill, English author and pacifist, and who wrote extensively on prayer and spiritual practice during the first half of the 20th century.

The retreat begins Friday evening with a social hour at 5:00, followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m., and concludes Sunday morning at noon, following our eucharist.  There will be presentations by Pastor Jane, prayer, plenty of free time for walks on the nearby trails, reading, optional centering prayer and lots of fellowship opportunities.  You’ll come away spiritually refreshed, relaxed and with new and deeper friendships.

House director and former restaurant chef Dan Olberg prides himself on quality farm-to-table meals—we’re always spoiled by the delicious food!  St. Andrews is warm and inviting, with handmade quilts on the beds and cozy afghans for snuggling by the indoor or outdoor fireplaces in the evening. There are beautiful mountain views across the Canal and lovely walking trails. Most rooms are for 2 people although there are some singles and threesomes.  We will do our best to accommodate room and roommate requests.

Cost for the retreat is $260, which includes room, all meals and a take-away box lunch on Sunday.  Some scholarship support is available—if you need financial assistance in order to attend, please contact Pastor Jane.

You can sign-up by mailing your check and the form included with this bulletin to the office,  on the St. Thomas website, or by using the QR code in The Wrapper.  If you have questions, please call Mary Waldmann at (425) 217-9393 or e-mail her at rwaldmann1@mac.com.  Registration and payment deadline is Monday, September 5th, but we love early registrations.
