Vacation Bible Camp 2016 - Day 2

Posted by The Rev. Karen Haig on

It’s been another great day at St Thomas Vacation Bible Camp!  Today the campers learned the story behind their memory verse, Mark 10:14 -  Let the little children come to me and do not stop them.  For the Kingdom of God belongs to these.  Mark 10:14!  The best part is the jumping up at the end!  Campers had all kinds of fun in the park, and we were happy that the rain held off!  The campers made dog biscuits (with garlic!) for Homeward Pet Adoption Center, practiced songs for our church service tomorrow, and heard the Bible story of Jesus blessing the children.  There were lots of happy connections with children happy to be back in their groups with old and new friends.  Today we talked about what a blessing is.  We named our many blessings (almost always beginning with “family”) and received a blessing from Mother Karen.  It was quite a gift to hear the children talk about their blessings.  We talked about the way Jesus blessed people and always helped them to understand how beloved they are.  We learned that everyone is special to Jesus, and that nothing we do will make God love us or not love us.  God loves us pure and simple and our job is to love the world just as God loves us.  When we do what we know is good and right, we realize that God can use all of us – no matter how big or little we are – to help make the world a better place.
