This was an email originally sent out to the parish on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
Here are the latest group of stories we have collected. This is a wonderful way for us to stay connected with one another and to accompany one another on this journey. We would love to have YOUR story. Check out the broad guidelines HERE. And if you have already submitted a story, please let us have another one!
Reflection by DWIGHT RUSSELL
Greetings to all!
This will be my last post for a while. I thank you for reading my reflections as I composed them, and Lex for publishing them. Also, special thanks to my wife Shirley, who is a professional editor, and who helped keep my endeavors readable. Here are several prayers that have calmed me in times of stress and a beautiful and moving doxology from the letter of St. Jude. Perhaps they can enrich your spiritual life.
In Christ we have everything.
If you want to heal your wound, he is the doctor.
If you are burning with fever, he is the fountain.
If you are in need of help, he is strength.
If you are in dread of death, he is life.
If you are fleeing the darkness, he is light.
If you are hungry, he is food.
O taste and see that the Lord is good!
Ambrose of Milan
Take Lord receive, all my
liberty, my memory, my
understanding, and my
entire will. Whatsoever I
have or hold you have
given to me, I give it all
back to you and
surrender it wholly to be
governed by your will.
Give me only your love
and your grace and I am
rich enough and ask for nothing more.
St. Ignatius Loyola
The goodness of sea be thine,
The goodness of earth be thine,
The goodness of heaven be thine.
The grace of the love of the skies be thine.
The grace of the love of the stars be thine.
The grace of the love of the moon be thine.
The grace of the love of the sun be thine.
Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling,
and to make you stand without blemish in the
presence of His glory with rejoicing, to the only
God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord,
be glory, majesty, power and authority, before all
time and now, and forever. Amen.
Jude (verses 24-25)
Blessings to all and a quote from Thomas Merton in Latin: “Regnum Dei intra vos est” – the Kingdom of God is in the midst of you. Keep the faith!
