Project Outreach

For over 30 years, Project Outreach has been helping people who can't help themselves. As Jesus shows us in Matthew 25:35-40, Project Outreach reaches out to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, and welcome the stranger.

Project Outreach provides financial support to groups and organizations that help those in need to help themselves. Grants have provided food, clothing, shelter, education and emergency aid for disaster. Be it big or small, local or global, the Project Outreach committee prayerfully considers every request.

Supported by donations from St. Thomas parishioners and visitors, the Project Outreach committee reviews grants twice a year. Grant applications can be downloaded here and are available at the St. Thomas church office.

Our Evaluation Guidelines

In evaluating requests, we use the following criteria:

  • The project is inspired by principles of faith.
  • It offers opportunities for parishioners to become personally involved.
  • Our gift will make a measurable difference in the success of the project.
  • We may become enthusiastic about the cause.
  • The organization "teaches people to fish."
  • The organization is stable and well run.

Grantee Organizations

Church of the Apostles (COTA)--This mission-ministry in Fremont is a joint venture of the national Lutheran and Episcopal Churches. Its postmodern ministry touches the homeless, young adults, small businesses, the elderly, and others who hunger for both secular and spiritual fulfillment.
