Introducing our 2020-2021 Program Year & Stewardship Theme...

Now Seeking: Parish Video & Photo Submissions!

In this season of "social distancing", maintaining connection can feel difficult. Even so, at St. Thomas, we know that being the church means being together in faith and spirit, regardless of physical distance. How have you experienced connection lately? We want to hear from you!

Now through September 9th, 2020, St. Thomas Episcopal Church is seeking video and photo submissions of you and/or your family engaging in connection or togetherness. Perhaps you connect with your faith through prayer, experience togetherness by playing a board game; or maybe you find God when you walk in nature. No matter where or how you find connection, we want to see it!

Ready to participate? We have three easy ways for you to be a part of "St. Thomas Together". Choose the option (or options) that work best for you:

1) Upload a VIDEO CLIP of you and/or members of your household being TOGETHER with each other and/or with God.

This will be unique to each person/family, so please film what “together” means to you. Follow these easy video instructions and tips:

  • Use your smart phone to film your video. Most have high quality cameras.
  • These clips will primarily be used with narration or music so focus on filming the action and don’t talk to the camera or explain what’s happening. Don’t worry if your clips include ambient noises and conversations that occur naturally in the course of the filmed activity.
  • Film horizontally. Vertical videos (which happen when holding your phone upright as if to make a call) are more difficult to edit and might be unusable.
  • Focus on people not just scenery. We miss each other and want to see the members of our St. Thomas family. If you can’t have someone else film you, use a tripod or base (tip: create a DIY sturdy base out of stair-stepped books).
  • Aim for clips that are 20 to 90 seconds in length. You may submit more than one video if you want to capture multiple family members or different activities.
  • Strive to film in well-lit environments and avoid harsh shadows.
  • Have fun! Make it personal! We want to see you and get an authentic glimpse into your everyday life. If you don't know what to film, consider documenting your interests and hobbies. Love to knit? Film yourself knitting! Gardening more your thing? Make a video of you tending to your plants.
  • Upload your clip/s by Wednesday, September 9th using the Drop Box at the bottom of this page.

2) Upload a very brief VIDEO CLIP of you and/or members of your household saying, “St. Thomas TOGETHER.”

Take less than a minute to film yourself or your family speaking directly to the camera. Follow these easy video instructions and tips:

  • Use your smart phone to film the video. Most have high quality cameras.
  • Film horizontally. Vertical videos are difficult to edit and might be unusable.
  • Strive to film in well-lit environments and keep the camera steady.
  • Face the camera and say: “Together we are the church” - We are the church, together” - “St. Thomas Together” or your version of this sentiment! You can have each person say one word, recite a phrase in unison, or hold up a sign or signs. Be creative or not – any type of clip is welcome!
  • Upload your clip/s by Wednesday, September 9th using the Drop Box at the bottom of this page.

3) Upload a PHOTO of you and/or members of your household holding a “St. Thomas TOGETHER” sign.

Take a photo of yourself or your household and share it with us. Follow these easy photo instructions and tips:

  • Use your smart phone or tablet to take a photo. Most have high quality cameras.
  • Hold the phone or tablet horizontally. Vertical photos are difficult to edit.
  • Strive to take a photo in well-lit environment or using the camera’s flash.
  • Make and hold a sign that says: “Together we are the church” - We are the church, together” - “St. Thomas Together” or your version of this sentiment! Feature the sign/s in your photo but be sure to include yourself/your family too. Creativity is welcome but not required.
  • Upload your photo/s by Wednesday, September 9th using the Drop Box at the bottom of this page.
