Children at St. Thomas
At St. Thomas, we believe that children are inherently spiritual and that they experience God in ways that are rich and real. Children are a vital part of our church in the here and now! Although we have many offerings that are specifically for children, children participate with adults in almost everything we do as a church.
Our formation programs steep our children in the rich stories that are their Christian heritage. Through stories and activities, we invite them to respond in ways that allow young minds to experience God’s abundant love and to then share that vast love with family, friends, and all of God’s creation.

Children from age 4 through 2nd grade are welcome to participate in Godly Play, a Montessori-based curriculum designed to immerse children in Bible stories, discover their innately spiritual nature, and foster a sense of wonder. Godly Play meets from 10:15-11:10 am. Children join their families in church for Communion.
For more information about Godly Play, contact Lisalynn Reed, Coordinator for Godly Play.
Children in 3rd through 5th grades are invited to be a part of Kids’ Club – a fun and energetic group that explores the Sunday Gospel scriptures through the Spark Activate Faith Lectionary curriculum. Kids will explore the scriptures through reading, discussion, games, crafts, games, and more! Each lesson focuses on what the scriptures mean in our lives – especially kids’ lives – in our world today. Kids' Club happens from 10:15-11:10 am each Sunday morning. Kids join their families in church for Communion.

Service Team meets on Sunday during formation hour from 9:15-10:15 am and all children from grades K- 5th grade are invited to participate in an activity that gives back to our community. Past projects have included writing notecards for our neighbors in need, baking dog biscuits and making cat blankets for a local animal shelter, valentines for the ladies at The Sophia Way, and baking cookies for pastoral care.

We welcome children of every age to worship in our 8 am and 10:30 am worship services. St. Thomas is a very family-friendly church and we invite the whole family to worship together during our services. You will often see children serving in worship as acolytes, readers, or singing in Choristers, our children’s choir.
Childcare is offered beginning at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings, during formation classes, worship, and other adult activities. Our childcare providers are screened and trained and have a wonderful rapport with the children. Sign-in sheets require parents’ cell phone numbers so that our caregivers may be in touch with parents if a child requires their care.
