Guatemala Day Six

Posted by Connor Williams on

Today was pretty ebic. The first thing we did was consume breakfast, which was pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and frijoles. Then we went ziplining! The view from up high on the zipline was absolutely beautiful, and we had a lot of fun, even if some of us were a bit scared.

After that wonderful experience, it was real consumption hours once again. We had a delicious luncheon at the restaurant on the mountain. Then, we went to the playground, and, even if we were a bit too old for it, had a lot of fun.

After that, we returned to the hotel for a little R&R. After that, we got our mobile cellular telephones back, before we headed for the bank. There we switched some of our US dollars for quetzales, the currency used in Guatemala, which is about 7.50Q for $1.00.

At the marketplace we had to barter down the prices, and some of us were a bit more willing to push for lower prices than others. Despite that, we all had a lot of fun, and we all bought a lot of cool stuff for our families, our friends, and ourselves.

Then, we went back to the hotel, where we got to use our phones for an hour, before giving them back to Ashley, although no one minded parting with their phones, as we were all too busy talking and having fun with each other. Then we had a really delicious dinner, although there was a bit of a wait for the food, but that time passed when we were all talking to each other and enjoying crisp, refreshing Pepsi. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel and got ready for bed, hoping that tomorrow will be just as ebic.

Editor’s note: The word “ebic” (commonly spelled: “epic”) has been left in to maintain the integrity of one of the group’s many inside jokes. While the editor (Ashley) does not necessarily understand the joke, she has concluded that changing the spelling will lead to relentless taunting at the hands of the original author that may just follow her throughout the course of her tenure as the St. Thomas Associate for Youth, and has therefore decided it can stay.  :-)
