Every Thursday, from 01/07/2021 to 05/27/2021, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
On Thursdays at 7:00 pm, Natalie Ham, our Parish Administrator, will continue to host a book study on The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. We’ll gather virtually via Zoom (video conference call).
Widely considered one of the best novels of all time, The Lord of the Rings has inspired, and continues to inspire, artwork, music, films and television, and subsequent literature. The world painted by Tolkien may be fantasy, but its characters share much in common with us: joy, hardship, comfort, fear, laughter, sorrow, courage, isolation, and community. At the heart of the story is the profound truth stated in the Gospel of John; “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it” (John 1:5).
Over the course of the book club, we will discuss the entire story, including The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. Attendees who have already read the story or who read along with the weekly discussion will have the richest experience. However, everyone is welcome to join at any point regardless of how much you have or haven’t read! If you want to participate, but don’t have time to read, consider watching The Lord of the Rings movies.
To sign up, send your name and email address to Natalie at or call the office at 425-454-9541. In order to receive the Zoom link for the book club, you must sign up.
