Holy Week: The Triduum
(March 20-22)
"Triduum" means "Three Days." Our annual participation in the
death and resurrection of Christ begins by entering the mystery of the
Last Supper; leads us through Jesus' arrest, trial, and crucifixion; and
climaxes with the birth of new sisters and brothers in baptism at the
Easter Vigil.
The Triduum is actually one long liturgy, taking place over
three consecutive evenings. To miss one of the services is to miss a
chapter of the saga.
We are Christians. This is our story. Don't miss any of these
opportunities to help tell the story!
Triduum I: Maundy Thursday, March 20
(6:30 pm)
"You must now wash each other's feet."
- John 13:14
"Maundy" comes from the Latin "mandatum," meaning "command." On the
night of his arrest, Jesus gave us parting instructions. Tonight, we
join the apostles to hear and carry out those instructions again.
- Our Primary Service Is a Dinner in the Great Hall:
6:30 pm Agape Eucharist with Footwashing
- Bring a gift of canned food or money for the poor
- Watch of Prayer continues throughout the Triduum in the Chapel

Triduum II: Good Friday, March
21 (7:00 pm)
"My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?"
- Psalm 22:1
What makes this day good? Maybe it has something to do with the fact
that our human concept of good is a limited one. Even death is no
obstacle to God.
- 6:30 am Stations of the Cross
- 7:30 am Morning Prayer
- 12:00 noon Devotions at the Cross
- Primary Service: 7:00 pm Solemn Liturgy with Choir

Triduum III: The Great Vigil of
Easter, March 22
(8:00 pm)
"This is the night."
- The Exsultet, the great proclamation of Easter from the Book of Common
Prayer, p. 286
Sure, you could show up on Easter morning and hear the good news.
We'll be here joyfully celebrating! But we'd rather invite you to join
us in the Tomb on Saturday night, where you can experience the Resurrection
firsthand in the baptism of new Christians.
Color ... sound ... light ... water ... oil ... bread ... wine ...
Jesus ... this is the Crown of the Year.
If you don't believe but want to ... if you do believe but want to
experience ... if you have experienced and want to share ... bring the whole family. Bring babies and little ones in pajamas.
Bring parents. Bring friends. Bring everyone who wants to hear the Good
News! And bring a bell, drum, or noisemaker to use at the time of the
proclamation of Easter.
Primary
Service at 8:00 pm:

own baptism.
- FEAST: We are all invited to the table, old and young, dead and
living, to share in the eternal meal of the Risen Christ.
