@ St. Thomas

Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a Rector for St. Thomas Church, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (Book of Common Prayer)

We're seeking a new rector, and this page includes information for potential candidates. For updates on where we are in the call process and where we've been, visit the Transition Update page.

About Us

St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Medina WAOur church is located in the beautiful Northwest corner of the United States in Medina, Washington. Not far from Puget Sound and across a bridge from Seattle, Medina is nestled in between Lake Washington and the Cascade mountains. It is a garden spot among several distinctive residential communities near downtown Bellevue, a burgeoning city of 118,000 people.

The distinctive architecture of our church, its garden close, beautiful stained glass windows in the church and chapel, and our Metzler organ are appreciated by many. The adjacent Great Hall is the scene of our parish gatherings and activities.

Founded in 1951, St Thomas School is on our campus as well and is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools although it is independent and non-sectarian. It is housed in a new building where 240 preschool through sixth grade students attend daily chapel. The rector and staff help lead these services.

St. Thomas Call Committee, Phyllis Ross, Co-Chair
P.O. Box 4108, Bellevue, WA 98009

We urge clergy who are applying to be rector to become familiar with our unique parish by downloading our comprehensive Parish Profile here.  It was developed by a committee of eight parishioners who met weekly from March to October 2008. They conducted an extensive survey through which 225 parishioners offered their opinions about the skills and abilities they would like to find in a new rector, and described how they view St. Thomas Church. The committee interviewed 20 focus groups and presented several all-parish forums. Ultimately, the Parish Profile describes who we are as a people of God, what our true mission is, where the church is now and where we hope to be in the future.

The Call Committee

Chosen by the vestry and entrusted to prayerfully move through the search process, the Call Committee was formally convened on September 25 at a joint meeting with the vestry; Bishop Greg Rickel; The Rev. Canon Joan Anthony, Diocesan Deployment Officer; and Transition Consultants Tom Cashman and Alissabeth Newton.
